The Annapolis I Remember Collection
|Collection Description:||Copy photographs made by Marion E. Warren for Mame Warren's book Then Again . . . Annapolis 1900-1965, published in 1990. The original photographs fall between those dates and provide a wonderful cross-section of life in Annapolis for both the African-American and white communities during those years. The collection also contains many oral history interviews with long time residents of Annapolis. Copy negatives of photographs of Annapolis, mostly covering the period 1900-1960.

Research notes include Annapolis City Directories (or excerpts from) for the years 1896-7, 1910, 1924, 1934, 1939; the Annapolis section of The First Colored Directory of Baltimore City dated 1925-6; Annapolis telephone directories for the years 1909, 1932, 1936-7, 1947-8; a list of Annapolitans in military service in 1918 titled The Boys of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Who are Serving Uncle Sam; a 1937 Rambler Athletic Club program including advertisements; official program of the Annapolis Fire Departments's 1925 tournament and the Maryland State Firemen's Association convention held in Annapolis in 1927; Anne Arundel County section of the Directory and Gazetteer of Maryland for 1887 which includes a list of businesses. Also included are feature articles by Ann Jensen which appeared in the Annapolitan magazine concerning various neighborhoods, personalities, and ethnic groups: Hell Point, Murray Hill, Trumpy's Yacht Yard, Aris Allen, Joe Alton, Jews, Greeks.
