The Newtown Record and Gazette began publication in October 1871[?] and ceased November 7, 1874[?]. It was published weekly. Title history based on November 2, 1872 [v. 1, no. 2]. Renumbering began with v. 1, no. 1 in 1872. The newspaper was formed by the union of the New Town Record (Newtown: 1865) and the Newtown Gazette (Newtown: 1869) and was continued by the Record and Gazette (Newtown: 1874).
